History:
St.Gallen is mentioned for the first time in history in 610, then the irish missionary Gallus build in 612 a hermitage, which became later in 728 a monastery. In 1215 a large fire destroyed St.Gallen with exception of 6 houses an the monastry. In 1691 Anna Hellerin (Hellerstrasse) is burned as the last witch.
Actual:
The town has about 18000 inhabitants.
Interesting:
The most Wooden and Stone oriel windows where build around 1700. Since 1983 the "Stifts"-area of St.Gallen is a UNESCO world heritage.
