History:
The Romans already build a vicus (militairy base) with thermal sources, where previously the Helvetic people had left there settlement (Eburodunum), which is now Yeverdon. Peter of Savoyen erbte in 1251 the city and build the castle of Yverdon, where the Educator Pestalozzi had from 1805 to 1825 an education-school. Now the city museum is located in the castle.
Actual:
In the city live about 25000 people. In 2009 the city won the Wakkerpreis (preservation of monuments).
Interesting:
Yverdon had in the 18th century seven printing factories, because it was well known that Yverdon was very attractive for intellectuals to live there.
