Storia:
Schwyz is mention for the first time in 972 as Suittes. The centre of the city as it is today was build after the fire in 1642. Many families in Schwyz earned good money in the 17th century with mercenary.

Interessante:
The village-square in the centre is one of the most beautiful old squares in Switzerland. The oldest building of Schwyz is the house of Bethlehem, it did not burn down in 1642. In the Bundesbrief-museum is the original document the "Bundesbrief" of 1291, that stands for the official foundation of Switzerland.
